Since 1995 The Reel Life has been guiding large groups on the rivers and streams surrounding Santa Fe. Some examples include business entities, convention goers, weddings, bachelor parties and family reunions. Many of these groups have custom needs so pricing and arrangements can be tailored to each particular event. This is a major part of The Reel Life's business so we take it very seriously. Size
Large groups are often defined by affinity, that is what it is that is bringing them together. It may be a convention where several discrete groups of one or two choose fly fishing as one of many potential activities, or it may be a bachelor party of 20 going fly fishing as one group to the same place. No matter the size, if it is a group event we try to limit the number of participants to 20.
Pricing
Pricing large groups usually starts with our standard pricing schedule for public water trips. We then adjust for landowner rod fees, guide gratuity, fishing license and sales tax. Our optimum guide/client ratio is 1:2, however with large groups we can often achieve economies of scale by adjusting the guide/client ratio.
Location
Proximity to Santa Fe, ease of execution, and exclusivity are often important considerations for large groups. The Reel Life has access to several nearby private ranches that provide excellent solutions for each of those critical factors.
Timing
Because of the planning involved in large group activities, we would like as much advance notice as possible. Usually two weeks is enough, but during our busiest time, June - August, we need more. If you are currently just considering guided fly fishing for your group, please give us a call.
